Common AC Problems

Frozen Copper

AC lines freezing, weird noises or house not cooling down?

Common things I notice are dirty air filters, dirty outdoor unit, too many blocked air vents, or low refrigerant. Although you need to hire someone for more refrigerant, it is a good idea to take a look around if the other listed items have been taken into consideration.

How to help maintain an efficient Air Conditioning system.
-Air conditioners need a lot of airflow. Blocked off vents or dirty filters can cause your AC system to work harder than it needs to and cost you way more on your electricity bills.
-Your outdoor unit also needs airflow to keep your compressor from overheating. Simply washing your outdoor unit with a garden hose, getting rid of dust and pollen can not only prolong the life of your unit, but make it run more efficiently. (Be sure to wash it down while the unit is not running.)
Taking care of your Water Tank is important, but also very easy! They should be flushed out every two years to dramatically increase the life and efficiency of your tank.
1. Turn off the gas valve to your tank.
2. Turn off the cold water to your tank.
3. connect a hose to the bottom drain attachment and run it to your floor drain.
4. Open up your hot water taps around the house.
5. With a flathead screwdriver, open the hose attachment to begin draining.
6. Wait until empty. (This could take 40-60 minutes)
7. Open the water shut off from step 1 for two to three seconds. (Repeat this step until only clean water is coming out of your hose into the drain)
8. Close hose attachment and turn the water back on.
9. Turn gas valve back on and ignite in pilot mode, if required.
10. Remove hose and wait for water to come out of the taps before closing them as to prevent air from being in the lines. (Should take 5-15 minutes)
